October 3, 2011.  The last day for eligible professionals to begin their 90-day reporting period for calendar year 2011 for the Medicare EHR Incentive Program is 10/3/11.

Family Practice EHR User Satisfaction Survey

Family Practice Management recently published results of its fourth electronic health record, or EHR, user satisfaction survey.  The survey rates 30 EHR systems on 17 dimensions including

ease of ordering lab tests
ease and effectiveness of documenting care
rapidity and ease of electronic prescribing

EHR Adoption Rates on an Upward Trend

Mostashari: Stage 2 Meaningful Use Delayed

National health IT coordinator, Farzad Mostashari, has agreed with conclusions of the Health IT Policy Committee for delaying the start of stage 2 measures until 2014 for those providers attesting to meaningful use in 2011 or 2012.  The reason?  Timelines for implementing the next set of EHR functionality and updating systems is simply not feasible.
